‘Lab One Foundation’ situated at Uttara of Dhaka City, is a nonprofitable private organization which provides medical care constantly to ensure well treatment facilities by giving donation to the helpless and poor patients. In January of 2002, this organization commenced its foot step and it has been providing well and modern treatment facilities since last 15 years by standing beside the helpless and poor patients. It is working for the patients especially who have been suffering from different types of blood disorders like Thalassaemia, Haemophilia, Blood Cancer, Lymphoma, Multiple Myeloma, Leukemia, Aplastic Anaemia along with other blood diseases and is also working to ensure good treatment facilities for the impoverished patients. The treatment of these types of blood disorders is very expensive. Being affected with these blood disorders, many people in Bangladesh faces pre-mature death due to lack of better treatment as it is costly here. Many other people suffering from these diseases cannot save their last breath even after selling their whole properties. For this, LOF is providing services for 24 hours to ensure well treatment facilities, so that these kinds of patients can take better treatment at affordable cost. This foundation is also providing services by giving donation to those who are completely insolvent.
The main aim of Lab One Foundation is to bring all patients with blood disorder under the treatment at a considerable cost at private level beside government. All kinds of treatment of Thalassaemia such as regular consultation by specialist doctor, necessary blood transfusion, spelenectomy, operation, iron chelation facilities, pre-marriage & post marriage counseling facilities are to be ensured here. All kinds of treatment facilities of Haemophilia like regular consultation by specialist doctor, necessary blood transfusion and all kinds of operation are to be ensured here. Factor injections are available here for haemophilia patients. All kinds of treatment facilities along with chemotherapy for the blood cancer patients are available here. Treatment of Leukemia, Multiple Myeloma, Lymphoma, Aplastic anaemia and other blood disorders are provided in this specialized hospital. This hospital has its own blood bank named ‘Lab One Blood Bank’ for safe blood transfusion. All kinds of blood and blood products are available and preserved here so that immediate blood transfusion is to be managed in case of emergency for blood disorder patients. All kinds of blood such as – Whole Blood, Apheresis Platelet, Random Platelet, RCC (Red Cell Concentrate), FFP ( Fresh Frozen Plasma), Cryoprecipitate and others are available here. Therapeutic Plasma Exchange is managed here. This organization has a blood donor club named ‘Lab One Blood Donor Club’ for non-professional blood donors where donors can donate their blood voluntarily. Till now, more than 10,000 donors have donated their blood here voluntarily. A cultural forum has been founded taking all patients, guardian of the patients, member of the foundation, member of the blood donor club as well as well-wishers. Usually, these blood disorder patients cannot lead a normal life like others. So, they remain weak mentally. At different times, various cultural programs have been arranged by the direct participation of the patients to make them physically strong by increasing their mental strength. So, these patients highly enjoy participating in different events like dancing, singing, reciting, sports etc. Till now, expenditure of these programs are managed by the own fund of the founder chairman of the foundation. It is not possible to fund from one person only for the mass people of Bangladesh. To cope with the treatment facilities of the developed world, huge fund is needed to ensure well treatment facilities, training to the doctors and conducting research. By forming a committee including 25 members from every Upazilla of whole Bangladesh ‘Lab One Support Group’ is under process. By respective support group of every Upazilla, donation, collected from the rich people of that upazilla, will be spending for the treatment of the poor and helpless patients. Donation, received from the government, private institutions, local and foreign funding agencies and individuals, will be spending for the treatment of the blood disorder patients.
